Any individual who parks a vehicle on the main or south campus of Colorado State University must have a valid permit linked to the vehicle or pay a meter. Parking permits will be required at the Foothills campus beginning July 1, 2020. All regular and special parking permits are issued by Parking and Transportation Services upon verification of eligibility.
- Purchasing a parking permit does not guarantee a parking space.
- Parking for permit holders is on a first come, first served basis.
- Possession of a permit allows parking on campus in a designated area but does not guarantee that a space will be available.
- Only one vehicle linked to a permit can park on campus at any given time.
Your parking permit dollars pay for parking maintenance and operations. By state statute, parking at CSU is required to be self-funded, meaning parking must generate revenue to pay for the costs of parking on campus, including parking lot and garage construction and maintenance, and all parking operations. Parking and Transportation Services does not receive any tuition, student fee or tax revenue.
Permits
Below is a list of permit types available at CSU. Rates are effective from July 1, 2019-June 30, 2020.
The type of permit you are eligible to purchase is determined by your university classification. Only one permit may be issued to each staff member, faculty member, or student, with the exception of daily and hourly permits.

Daily permits
Daily permits are available for all visitors, as well as CSU staff, faculty, and students for $13 each.
- Daily permits are available for students, faculty, and staff through our website.
- Daily scratch-off permits are available for students, faculty, staff, and visitors at Parking Services (1508 Center Avenue, corner of Prospect Road and Center Avenue in the Lake Street Parking Garage).
Permit duration
Most permit types are available for annual, semester, month, and day duration. Annual and semester permits are aligned to the academic calendar and the prices are prorated as the duration of the permit decreases. Except for specialty permits that require written authorization, all permits are available through our website and will list the start and end dates and the current price for prorated permits.
Monthly permits for visitors are available for $112 and 6-month permits are available for $522 at Parking Services (1508 Center Avenue, corner of Prospect Road and Center Avenue in the Lake Street Parking Garage). Visitors are asked to complete a permit application listing the name and address of the owner or operator of the vehicle and the license number of the vehicle on which the permit will be used. The visitor status is then verified and the permit is issued immediately. A map of the campus and directions to specific locations will also be provided upon request.
Permit returns and refunds
The permits in the chart above are all virtual. Students, faculty, and staff qualify by their association with the university. If that association with CSU ends, contact Parking Services and find out if you qualify for a refund. A pro-rated refund minus a $25 restocking and administrative fee will be issued upon the return of any qualifying permit, with the exception of temporary permits and permits purchased via payroll deduction, due to state income tax regulations. The last day for refunds on any permit is March 31.
