Safety First

CSU has a great mix of pedestrians, drivers, bicyclists, scooter riders and boarders using the roads, sidewalks and trails. Rams take care of Rams, including while we travel around campus! Keep these safety tips in mind:

  • You’re investing in your brain by going to college; now keep it safe with a helmet!
Want a free helmet? Email parking@colostate.edu with your name, res hall/room #, and preferred size (S, M, L, XL) and we’ll arrange to have one delivered to your front desk!
  • Review the Safe Commuting Regulations from CSU Police to help keep yourself and those around you safe (and avoid a ticket)
  • Register your bike with CSU Police ($10 registration is required and lasts for the life of the sticker)
  • Protect your bike from theft by locking the frame to the rack with a u-lock (as shown in this video from The Spoke)

Finding a Route

  • Check out the Fort Collins Bike Map to see the City’s Low-Stress Network (on-road routes with low traffic volumes and great wayfinding), and our beautiful mixed-use paved trails. The CSU campus is shaded purple on the map.
  • Get bike directions with Google Maps! Use this tutorial for instructions on mapping your bike trip.
  • We’ve compiled some fun intro routes for you to try below. Expand the map to full screen by clicking the upper right-hand corner to view each of the three routes.
